One question that we get a lot and see a lot is how to make a sub bass in FL Studio. Having a good sounding sub bass is huge for creating beats. There are so many different ways that you can create a sub bass in FL studio.
The simplest and my preferred way to create sub bass sounds in FL Studio is using the 3xOSC. 3xOSC is a very simple plugin that includes three oscillators. It has built in effects and you can also change the different types of waveforms and which oscillators are activated. It is such a simple plug-in but such a powerful one that doesn't get used often enough in FL Studio. A lot of people write-off the 3xOSC because it doesn't have a stunning graphic interface or a lot of presets.
If you experiment with 3xOSC you will quickly find that it is a very powerful plug-in and very easy to create a lot of sounds that you're looking for including sub bass.
To add the 3xOSC to FL Studio go to channels, add one, and select it.Once you have added it you want to assign it to an FL Studio mixer track. Once you have done that you then want to turn the volume of oscillator 1 and oscillator 3 all the Way down.
To drop the pitch of the sound a couple octaves you take the CRS knob in the channel settings of the 3xOSC and turn it all the way down to the left. Then at the bottom you want to right-click on the keyboard to change the root note of the sample. In the tutorial we move this up to C6 to drop it down another octave.
Now you want to go into the FL Studio mixer and begin adding some effects to the bass. I like to start with the parametric EQ and filter out all the unnecessary frequencies that are not part of the sub bass.
Use the parametric EQ to filter out the frequencies between 30 Hz and above 100 Hz. this will help us later on in the mix so that the sub bass does not mask other instruments and they do not fight for space in the mix.
Once you have filtered it is time to find the main frequencies of your bass. To do so, hit the play button in FL Studio and listen to your bass with the parametric EQ open. In the parametric EQ you will be able to see the dominant frequencies of your bass. If you would like, you can then add a slight boost to those frequencies to bump them up a little.
If you want to add more bass you can even use the fruity bass boost effect.
