FL Studio software comes in four editions, the prices of which correspond to the available function. With the better editions, you get to edit audio clips, access the full version of the DirectWave sampler, and more. About three months ago, desktop software moguls Image Line released FL Studio 12, the latest installment of the DAW formerly known as Fruity Loops. Although this update integrated practical features such as multi-tech support and a bit-size classifier for plugins, it failed to reveal the Mac support that Image Line had promised.

Now Apple users can rest at ease, as FL Studio for Mac has just entered its alpha phase. The popular production program is testing for an OS X interface, but obviously has a few weak links in the sound design chain. There’s currently no component for VST plugins – that is, outside plugins such as Massive and Sylenth – along with the absence of MIDI input and output.
